2023: An important and impactful year!
As we approach the end of the year and begin to look ahead to 2024, we at Parents Plus charity would like to share some reflections on what has been an important and impactful year.
2023 began with a notable highlight as our CEO, Cherie Tyner, and our Special Needs Programme Coordinator, Ciara Ni Raghallaigh, presented at the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Disability Matters on the importance of supporting disability services to improve outcomes for families with evidence based parenting interventions.
Our charity welcomed the new impactful research led by Trinity College Dublin’s School of Psychology’s Dr Suzanne McMahon and her team. Their work, published in the Journal of Applied Research in Intellectual Disabilities, emphasises the effectiveness of the Parents Plus Special Needs Programme, and is testament to our collective efforts to empower disability services to make meaningful changes for families raising a child with a disability.
2023 also saw the launch of our New Parents Plus Early Years Programme Core Delivery, designed to provide services with tailored tools to support individual families over an extended period. This adaptation is ideal for services running home visiting initiatives, and highlights our commitment to support services meet the ever-evolving needs of families, children and young people.
Our dedication to empowering services across community, family support, mental health, disability and education settings, to improve outcomes for families through our suite of evidence based programme trainings, supervision, and outcome tracking is stronger than ever.
Through events like the “Collaboration is Key” seminar, our, “Improving Outcomes for Children with ADHD by Empowering Parents”, and our “Adapting Early Years Parenting Programme to the Needs of Individual Families and Communities” hybrid event, we have further empowered practitioners to make a difference in the lives of children and families.
As we look forward to 2024, we would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all the organisations whom we collaborate with, and to wish you all a very happy Christmas.
We look forward to continuing our journey with you all in 2024.
